You cannot talk about fashion in SUNGLASSES AND OPTICAL FRAMES without before learning about the story of the “king of designer” PAOLO SEMINARA.
PAOLO SEMINARA was born in Sicily on March, 10, 1946 from a poor farmer family.
When he was about a boy his family moved near Florence and PAOLO SEMINARA decided to study as optician in the world famous NATIONAL INSTITUT OF OPTICAL of Arcetri, which is located near Florence.
After he graduated to optician he started to work as optician and photographer, and after 3 years he became agent for the German companies ESHENBACH and ATELIER.
In 1973 the decisive carried out! He opened a company by his own self, and registered the trade mark VOGUE.
Since this magic moment, PAOLO SEMINARA started to design sunglasses and frames with the brand VOGUE.
Now when you talk about VOGUE LUNETTES, you have to imagine the leader brand of LUXOTTICA GROUP, but when Paolo Seminara started this new adventure, it was only a “self-made man” who worked with tenaciousness and determination.
Paolo Seminara motto is “NEVER THINKING THAT ANYTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE!”
This was how techniques and workmanship skills came about which represented real revolutions in the seventies: an example in this sense was the use of silk, sandwiched in between two transparent sheets. Then there were entire collections which played on colour combinations, on thickness and on special, completely unusual workmanship.
VOGUE appeared in 1973: a brand new, decidedly fashion product, in constant search of something new.
Then, 15 years ago, NOUVELLE VAGUE, more sophisticated glasses based on extreme refinement both in the chromatists and in the technological research, today glasses are an almost indispensable “dress” for the face. A fashion, a label which classes us as belonging to a precise social group: an indispensable accessory to improve one’s image in others eyes.
“My love for glasses – tells Paolo Seminara – goes back to the sixties. After getting my optician’s diploma, I began acquiring experience in a shop and I noticed that those who had sights problems experienced a real drama: glasses were truly horrible! With “VOGUE” which I presented in three different models – I offered a range of ten bright colours: a true revolution if one thinks that glasses were either black of brown then! Even then I concentrated a great deal on image – possibly also
encouraged by my love for photography – I remember that I ask to Mr. Fallai (world famous photographer) to take a picture of a wonderful girl wearing a pair of enormous coloured glasses, a photo which was a great success”.
The winning cards of this brand-name, which is one of the leaders in the glasses sector today, are a valid product, both as regards style and technology, but also, therefore the “cool” image.
